My Dance with NaNoWriMo

So, I thought that today I would tell you about my experience with NaNoWriMo, how Camp NaNo is going for me, and my plans for NaNoWriMo coming up.

Part 1: NaNo Experience
NaNoWriMo began, for me, with a school organization. We all decided to participate in it this past year, and I thought Why not? It began, and I didn't know how to change my word count. I was stuck on the regular NaNoWrimo with 50,000 words that month, something could not, and did not achieve.
The Young Writer's program was a very helpful site. They gave me a more manageable goal, and a site that was way easier to navigate. Though, I didn't make my goal, 30,000, it was a great learning experience. Even better, I got to do it with friends. I had noticed that I was telling my friends about what was happening, and having them read my last chapter. It was almost like it was therapeutic. It helped me to talk to friends, as well as having people around me participate. (If you enjoy that experience, I suggest Camp NaNoWriMo)
Another interesting chapter in my journey was having an internet 'fan base' involved. Though, I didn't, and don't really, have fans, it was nice to share my writing online. I used Wattpad to mainly store my writing, and read others. It was also a nice way to get used to online publishing, and feeling like I had a responsibility to someone who might be waiting for me to update. If you are planning on publishing online, that is a great way to go in terms of internet publishing. Additionally, you can get a fan base, and people can read for free. Considering that, you don't have to go to a publisher, either. If you want a professional publishing, without the publisher, publish online at Amazon.
Lastly, I was in the midst on school, which was a bit stressful. I really wasn't used to it, and was still getting into the rhythm  of school, and it was hectic. I wasn't prepared for any of it, and seemed a bit overwhelmed. If I would have done Camp before, in the summer, I could have prepared myself. I wish I would have known more.
MY ADVICE: Make sure to do your research. Know what you are handling before you do. Have your month planned out, as much as you can, and know what you have to do to keep yourself on track.

Part 2: Camp NaNo July So Far
So, yes, I am currently in the midst of a Camp NaNo. I did a Camp before this, and didn't succeed, but I feel pretty confident where I am so far.
I have been on track for most of the ride, but went on vacation this week. I am here, in Boise, and have lost track a bit. On the night before the trip, I thought that I would be writing in the car. So, I decided to take that night and actually get some sleep. Then, I was getting distracted in the car, and didn't write, even though the ride took half a day! So, I got here around 10:00, and was so tired. I wrote my share of words for that day and went along and slept. So, I have been pretty busy, barely reaching my daily goals. Right now, I'm procrastinating and writing my blog instead of working on my word count.
My Advice: Don't plan ahead when it comes to your word count. Do what you have to do now. And get your sleep, because you need it! I always seem to make more progress if I get my full amount of sleep the night before.

Part 3: Plans
Yes, I am doing NaNo.
I just, don't know. I really have to wrap this up and write. I will be doing a full 30,000 if I reach my goal this month, or less if I don't. There will be more information in the weeks ahead. Hopefully, it will be a sequel to the book I am currently writing. Look out for the edited version of that on here!

Thanks everyone!
